Roseburg Obon Festival 2004
at the historic Art Center Building

Obon is a traditional Buddhist summer festival widely observed throughout Japan.    Ancestors, remote and recent, are called back to earth for a day of feasting, dancing, and stories.   Millions of Japanese travel to their home towns & villages for the Obon Holiday, at the end of which the ancestors are sent back to heaven for another year.
